What Is Senior Care?

Senior care services are designed to help older people live comfortably, safely, and relatively independently in their own homes. Many times, families provide their own elder care services, but may hire an in-home care aide or senior care assistance from an outside agency.

This allows them to take a break from caregiving, maintain their regular job and hobbies, get specialized services and support, and still keep their loved one in their own home. Senior care and in-home care services are meant to make up for the daily self-care, personal hygiene, and activities that your loved one can no longer complete on their own.

Most people choose in-home care services, but some families feel more comfortable having their loved one in an assisted living facility or Alzheimer’s care or memory care facility. This choice is made based on their loved one’s specialized needs, overall health, and level of safety.

In-Home Care vs. Assisted Living Placement

There are different levels of care for seniors at different life stages and who have different needs and abilities. In-home care services are best for seniors who still are able to live independently, or who live with a family member who can’t provide around the clock care and attention.

If your loved one has serious health problems, limited mobility, advanced Alzheimer’s or dementia, or needs end of life care, you may decide that assisted living placement is a safer option.

Paying for Senior Care Services

Most elder care services are not covered by normal health insurance policies. Medicare covers in-home care services only when they are medically necessary, but doesn’t cover custodial or personal care services like assistance with personal hygiene and dressing.

Medicaid offers more comprehensive coverage, but only once the person no longer has enough money in their savings account to pay for care. Medicaid will cover in-home care services and assisted living or assisted living hospice care services, and may cover other services in certain states. At Placita In Home Care, we know that applying for Medicaid can be confusing and overwhelming.

We have partnered with the Care Bridge Foundation, a program that offers financial assistance to families who are waiting for a decision on their Medicaid application. The Care Bridge Foundation can offer assistance with the cost of assisted living services, in-home care, or senior care services and will help you complete the forms to apply for Medicaid coverage. Our Senior Care Services

We offer scalable, customizable elder care services to families throughout the Tucson and Phoenix Metro areas. Our goal is to provide consistent, reliable, and compassionate care to seniors who need assistance with the fundamental tasks of living. This includes:

  • Bathing, grooming, and personal hygiene
  • Medication reminders
  • Grocery shopping
  • Meal planning and preparation
  • Light housekeeping
  • Socialization, engagement, and activities
  • Transportation to medical appointments

We also partner with various senior services in the community that offer affordable activities like art classes, socialization opportunities, continuing education, and special interest clubs. We work closely with each family to identify their specific needs, goals, and concerns.

We can then create a personalized care plan for your loved one that addresses their needs and improves their health, safety, and comfort in the privacy of their own home. If you determine that your loved one’s needs go beyond what our in-home care aides can handle, we also offer free assisted living placement services.

We can help you find the right assisted living facility, assisted living hospice care, or assisted living memory care facility.

We also offer specialized in-home care services for families who have a loved one with dementia or recovering from an illness or surgery:

What to Expect During Your Consultation With Our Team

When you meet with our team, we will ask you questions about your loved one, such as their age, abilities, mobility, health, medications, safety concerns, health and hygiene concerns, and the safety of their home.

We will discuss our services and help you determine which ones are right for your needs. Our goal is to design a customized care plan for your loved one that can be scaled up or down based on your loved one’s changing needs.

We allow seniors the comfort of aging in place in their own homes by bridging the gap between the tasks they can complete themselves, what you as a family can manage, and the areas in which they need assistance.

Our Team of In-Home Care Aides

Each member of our staff has undergone a thorough background check, references check, and DMV records check. They also undergo routine drug testing. They are highly skilled and experienced, and have demonstrated compassion and a genuine desire to work with seniors and the elderly in their community.

In addition to providing trusted in-home care services, our staff also give your loved one the opportunity to get out of the home and attend senior activities in the community so they can stay engaged, make new friends, and be social without needing to worry about transportation.

Free Home Safety Evaluations

Before you get started with our in-home care services, we recommend that you schedule an in-home safety evaluation. We offer free home safety evaluations, during which we inspect the interior and exterior of your home or your loved one’s home to identify safety concerns, trip hazards, and other potential problems.

Our home safety evaluations ensure that the home is safe for your loved one before in-home care services begin. We identify poor lighting, rough or uneven walkways, safety obstructions, and areas that could benefit from the installation of safety railings or grab bars. We can also refer you to a handyman service that can install safety features in the home if necessary.
